Signposting along theRhine Cycle Route:

From the source in to the deltas in the mouth of the river in the , theRhine cycle route is signposted very well and the route logo is generally integrated into local signposts. All the regions along the Rhine are currently attempting to place the standard route logo, the ‘Euroradler’, (‘Euro Cyclist’ – an image of a yellow cyclist on a blue background) along theRhine cycle route in order to make the route simple and easy to follow.

You will encounter the following regional signposting systems along the way, which will guide you along theRhinecycle route.

 

  

 

 

Switzerland

Signposts for cyclists in generally have white print on a red background. TheRhine cycle route is known as the “Rhein-Route“ and is given the national route number 2. If routes diverge or if there is a link to train stations in addition to the route number (2), you will also find information regarding the destination and the distance on the signs.

 

 

France

In France, theRhine cycle route is signposted with black writing on a white background and the distance from the destination is given. The route logo “Euroradler” is attached to the signposts on an additional sign.

 

 

Germany

In Germany, theRhine cycle route is signposted in accordance with the standard federal recommendations from the Forschungsgesellschaft für Straßen und Verkehrswesen – FGSV (Research Institute for Roads and Traffic). The signs have green or red lettering on a white background. Featuring an image of a bicycle and an arrow, the route’s signposts provide information regarding destination, distance, and infrastructure facilities such as cycle centres at train stations etc.

TheRhine cycle route is marked with its own route logo, the ‘Euroradler’, which is attached to the signposts on an additional sign.

 

 

 

 

Netherlands 

In the Netherlands, the Rhine cycle route runs along the marked LF-cycle paths LF1, LF3, LF4, LF12 and LF17 (LF stands for Landelijke Fietsroutes). These quiet and attractive routes are signposted with green rectangular signs. As of early 2008, these routes will also be marked with theRhine cycle route symbol of the “Euroradler“.
